We are recruiting for a Senior Insurance Defense Attorney licensed in Minnesota to join a legal team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload of complex insurance defense matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, the ability to independently manage cases from inception through trial, and a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a full caseload of insurance defense matters
- Manage all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda in state and federal courts
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic analysis to clients and insurance carriers
- Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials
- Communicate effectively with clients, claims adjusters, experts, and opposing counsel
- Negotiate settlements and advise clients on risk and case exposure
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys or legal staff as needed
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the state of Minnesota (in good standing)
- 6+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation
- Proven track record of handling cases through resolution, including trial experience preferred
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with insurance carriers and claims professionals
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with complex litigation and high-exposure claims
- Ability to develop case strategy and provide practical, business-oriented advice
- Leadership experience or interest in mentoring junior team members
